A Greenport man who was evicted from his home Wednesday was arrested after attempting to break in to the residence later that night, Southold Town Police said.
German Mendoza, 43, attempted to break in through a second-story window about 11:19 p.m. at 228 5th Ave. in Greenport, police said. Officers entered the building and located Mr. Mendoza hiding underneath a stairwell inside, police said.
Mr. Mendoza was arrested for second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, and transported to headquarters for morning arraignment.
